The Shanghai Association of History, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai

The East-Asian Society for Urban History is pleased to announce its 2nd international conference to be held in Shanghai on Saturday 22 JUNE 2019 and invites papers on a wider range of academic fields to provide new perspectives on “Urban Management, Network, and Data Development in the East-Asia”.
In the modern history of turbulence China, Korea, and Japan were strugglingfor global standards of modernisation by which they achieved their national independence and prosperity.Urbanisation was an important criterion for the modernisation in the East-Asia. The processes of urbanisation in the three countries concurrently had similarities and differences. For scholars of the East-Asian urban history, it is very important to illuminate paths toward urbanisation and modernisation in the East
-Asia by considering the similarities and the feeling of solidarityas much as by highlighting the differences of individual cities. The principal aim of our conference “Urban Management, Network, and Data Development in the East-Asia” is to providea firm groundwork for academic exchange among the scholars of the East-Asian urban history. We are expecting to see significant improvements and developments in the studies of the East-Asian urban history. The topics of interest might include but not limited to:
Urban History / History of Architecture / Urban Culture / Urban Planning / Urban Sociology / Urban Sanitation / Urban Development Policy / Urban Regeneration /Colonial Modern City / Fortress City / Industrial City / Marine City / Urban Social Conflict / Urban Network / Urban Governance / City and Rural Community / City Tourism
